Thailand: BKK ~ Hangover?

BANGKOK! BKK… the city of wonder……

And staying at The Hangover hotel this trip….. the awesome LeBua! It’s iconic and has been around for yonks. But this hangover trip is not like the movie, no fingers are lost, no friends disappear, no speed boats or islands….  just a bit of a girls weekend away!

So this trip involves lots of drinking, eating and shopping! And even better when it is tagged along to a work trip.

HOTEL HANGOVER

LeBua or more famous for the dome looking globe hotel in the Hangover 2 is super chic. It has 2 towers but it’s a bit removed in terms of locations.  It was not my visit to the hotel, but definitely my first stay.

It’s about an hours ride in a cab from Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Coming straight from work, by the time I hit the airport it was close to 11pm. Upon arriving, check-in team were awesome and were kind enough to bump me up to a corner suite. How excited was I?

This corner suite was like the size of a Singapore Penthouse – it had a sitting room, seperate bathroom, long hallway, kitchen, a dining area, a lounge room, a bedroom and then an en-suite and to top it off 2 huge balconies. It was awesome, large enough to have a full frat party in!

But unfortunately the bedroom had a mildew smell. So a call back down to front desk, was advised unfortunately they had no more rooms in this tower but I could get a normal suit at the Tower Club – sure why not?

The Tower Club is the taller of the two towers at Le Bua. This 2nd room was more to normal sizing – like a large suite – a kictchen area, smaller dinning, spacious lounge, a bedroom and en suite and 2 huge balconies to lounge on. No mildew smell and all is happy! Being the in the Tower Club Tower meant faster access to the rooftop bars and restaurants. Only downfall is that more people use the lift and when you are 50+ floors up, it can take a while sometimes.

So rooms are definitely spacious, the city views are divine and the bathrooms are amazing!

By day, by night…

The Bars

The Dome rooftop bar is great, beautiful at night.

Dome Bar, Sky bar, Sirocco…. all were great… with the many many visits and cocktail that we had. Service is awesome and the head Bar Manager had some great tips for BKK Restaurants – L’Atelier, click here to find out more!

Breakfast – the spread at Le Bua is probably one of the best Thai Hotel breakfasts available encompassing pastry heaven, all your tradition western dishes as well as Asian – Chinese, Thai and fusion’d options as well an array of dairy and sweets to cure those hangovers!

SPA / Pool / Gym – it is Thailand after all, and having an outdoor pool a sizeable one is always a dream! The pool at LeBua is BIG, you can do laps, it’s an odd shape, but full swimming laps is easily accomplished. Plenty of around the pool space for catching some rays and touching up on that tan.

The gym is a bit smaller but after doing lots of walking shopping and lifting this bags as well as lazing around in the pool not sure if a full sized gym is required.

The Day Spa is great – they do deep tissue sports massages.

So the hotel sounds amazing… and it is but there are a few cons. The rooms internally are great, but the interior of the actually itself is a quite outdated and needs a refresh. A lot of wear and tear. So heading to the Tower Club floor during the day as well as the restaurants you will see in day light it’s long had it’s days, but under the darkness or night and bright shiny lights and accessories it goes a bit un-noticed.  And as mentioned,  staying in the Tower Club on higher levels means slower lifts and due to the popularity of the bar being situated in the some tower.

All in all – I would stay here again as it is definitely a novelty and a great weekend away with friends and it won’t break the bank.

So for the rest of this amazing weekend check out BKK!
